The letter below has gone out to residents and businesses in the Town Centre to confirm arrangements for this year’s events.

Totnes Christmas Market and Late Night Shopping 2023
Totnes Christmas Market and Late Night Shopping returns to the town centre on Tuesday 5th, 12th and 19th December, from 3pm to 9pm. This year Miss Ivy Events is working with Totnes Town Council to bring you a community focussed event which includes over 70 traders selling festive gifts and goodies, entertainment throughout the town including a carousel, local performers, and choirs. Local businesses and shops will be offering a late-night shopping opportunity to help residents and visitors purchase those special gifts.
The event will be taking place across 5 distinct areas including:
Fore Street, Shady Garden, High Street, Market Square, Civic Hall car park and Rotherfold.
To enable our traders to set up their stalls in readiness for 3pm Fore Street (from William IV, Station Road) High Street and the Rotherfold will be closed from 12pm to 10pm. Cistern Street (to The Lamb), South Street and Leechwell Lane will also be closed from 12pm to 10pm. Lower Fore Street will be closed from 16:00. Access to South Street, and Leechwell Lane will be given to residents living in these locations.
We will be allowing access for delivery vehicles ONLY from 12 – 2 on High Street to minimise disruption for local businesses.
We understand that closing roads does bring a level of disruption to residents and businesses. Previously the roads for this event have been closed at 10am; by closing them a little later we hope to minimise the disruption caused, whilst giving us enough time to set up the event in readiness for the 3pm opening.
Totnes Christmas Festival provides an important opportunity for the town to come together and enjoy the festive season and promote Totnes as a great place to live and visit. The event increases visitor footfall and supports the local economy as we welcome residents and visitors alike into the town centre.
