Salary Details: £29,572 – £31,586 per annum pro rata (£14,786 – £15,793 per annum)

Totnes Town Council is committed to supporting local businesses and empowering our community. We are looking to recruit a part-time Economic Support Officer to champion this mission. This new role offers an opportunity to work closely with local businesses and community stakeholders, handling tasks ranging from data analysis and business liaison to destination management.

About the Role
As our Economic Support Officer, you’ll be at the forefront of economic initiatives that strengthen Totnes. Your work will involve:

  • Supporting Local Business: Acting as a primary contact for Totnes businesses, offering advisory services and connecting stakeholders.
  • Economic Development: Conducting research, data analysis, and best practice reviews to support the Community Economic Plan and Business Forum.
  • Destination Management: Managing and promoting Totnes as a vibrant destination, including updating the Visit Totnes website.
  • Collaborative Communications: Working alongside the Marketing and Communications Manager to enhance Totnes Town Council’s economic initiatives.

About You
We are seeking candidates with at least three years of experience in economic development, marketing, or communications, and with a strong commitment to supporting local economic growth. Additional skills and qualifications we value include:

  • Experience and Knowledge: Proven experience in economic development, marketing, or communications, with relevant qualifications or professional development.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills for liaising effectively with businesses and stakeholders.
  • Data and Research Abilities: Competence in data analysis and reporting to back community economic plans.
  • Digital Savvy: Proficiency in social media management and website updates with an awareness of accessibility requirements for digital content.

Working Arrangements
This role is part-time, with hours spread over three days a week (including Fridays). Occasional evening meetings and participation in community and civic events, including some weekends, are required.
